Economics and Global Perspectives courses importance in secondary education
In today’s interconnected and ever changing world, it is more important than ever to have the right combination of “hard” and “soft” skills to thrive as a competitive candidate in the international job market.

In studying economics and international business, students can not only gain the “hard” skills they need to perform a job such as the business and technical acumen, but also the highly in demand “soft” skills such as being able to effectively communicate across cultures and languages, problem-solve, and lead others in a dynamic environment.

Whether or not a student ends up in the business world per se, these skills can transcend any industry and the scope of these skills can also transcend the workplace as it is also just as pertinent to have such skills to be a responsible and more globally minded citizen.
At KIT Education, we recognise the importance of developing and fine-tuning the “hard” and “soft” skills as well as the multilingual skills needed for our students to succeed not only in the classroom but also in the real world.

For our International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) courses, we chose to integrate the Cambridge IGCSE and O Level Economics and Global Perspectives courses into our programme this year to give our students a real-world edge.
In Economics, students will be able to know and understand economic terminology, concepts and theories, use basic economic numeracy and interpret economic data, use the tools of economic analysis, and to apply economic understanding to current economic issues.

In Global Perspectives, students will explore stimulating topics that have global significance such as being able to collaborate with others from another culture, community, or country and to assess information critically and explore lines of reasoning.
Through these course offerings, we aim to instil an inquisitiveness and hunger in our students to want to know more about the world around them and how they can make it better.
